"The Hound Dog Missile Is In The House" Travis museums "hound dog" restoration project is off and running. The DOG has been moved from storage into the museum and will be a prominent display in the current engine room. Our team is committed to making this the best GAM-77 display anywhere! "It's nuts, bolts, and elbow grease time" General cleaning was performed and now it's time for detailing, painting, assembly, parts scrounging, and all the other multitude of little tasks that will result in a world class exhibit. "Current status" Missile is essentially intact on its transportation and position trailer. We're missing only the pitot nose cone, tail cone, and some engine panels. We would greatly appreciate any help in finding parts for this display and all donations are tax deductible! Mr. Neil Wood is project director and has outlined the restoration plan in separate phases. Mr. Joe Tattersol has been working on a fiberglass replacement for the nose cone. Sergeant Grey has offered his sheet metal expertise and is making repairs to corroded skin areas. In addition, Sgt Grey is fabricating some of the missing access panels. Our next major step is mounting the wings and vertical stabilizer. "We still need a few good Volunteers for this project" There's still plenty to do on the hound dog missile display. From nuts and bolts work, to research and final display development. Call 707 424-5605 for more information or to volunteer. Article by: Gary Vostry
